NCAE-C
is managed by
NSA's
National Cryptologic School.
Federal partners include the Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI),
the National Science Foundation (NSF),
the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST)/National Initiative on Cybersecurity Education (NICE),
Department of Defense Office of the Chief Information Officer (DoD-CIO), and U.S. Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM).
The NCAE-C program aims to create and manage a collaborative cybersecurity educational program
with community colleges, colleges, and universities that:
- Establish standards for cybersecurity curriculum and academic excellence
- Include competency development among students and faculty
- Value community outreach and leadership in professional development
- Integrate cybersecurity practice within the institution across academic disciplines
- Actively engage in solutions to challenges facing cybersecurity education
Florida State University was designated by NCAE-C
a
Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) and a
Center of Academic Excellence in Research (CAE-R) for the period 2021-2027 and 2019-2024 respectively.
FSU was first designated by the NSA a Center of Excellence in Information
Assurance Education (CAE-IAE) in 2002 and by NSA/DHS
a Center of Excellence in Research (CAE-R) in 2008.
The Center for Security and Assurance in Information Technology coordinates and manages these programs at FSU.
Student Opportunities & Resources
The Scholarship For Service (SFS) program is designed to recruit and train
the next generation of information technology professionals, industrial control system security professionals,
and security managers to meet the needs of the cybersecurity mission for
Federal, State, local, and tribal governments.
This program provides scholarships for up to 3 years of support for cybersecurity undergraduate
and graduate (MS or PhD) education.
The scholarships are funded through grants awarded by the National Science Foundation.
In return for their scholarships,
recipients must agree to work after graduation for the U.S. Government, in a position related to cybersecurity,
for a period equal to the length of the scholarship.
Given our increasing reliance on cybersecurity, information technology (IT),
the growing threats to information, and information systems and infrastructures,
it is critical that the Department of Defense (DoD) protect itself.
For this purpose the DoD Cyber Scholarship Program (DoD CySP) was established,
sponsored by the DoD Chief Information Office and administered by the
National Security Agency (NSA). The objectives of the program are to promote
higher education in all disciplines of cybersecurity, enhance the Department's
ability to recruit and retain cyber and IT specialists, increase the number of military and civilian personnel
in the DoD with this expertise, and ultimately, enhance the nation's cyber posture.
